Photo Gallery: Sachem East Run to Remember

Event commemorates 9/11, raises funds for future memorial park at East.

Last Saturday Sachem East High School held its "Run to Remember," an annual 5K run intended to raise funds to build a monument to honor the victims killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11.

According to the Sachem Report, Principal Louis Antonetti said the school hopes to break ground on the monument this coming spring. Sachem North's monument was unveiled last year.

The photo gallery was captured by former Sachem Patch Editor and current Sachem School District PR Director Chris Vaccaro and includes an artists rendering of what the monument will look like when complete.

As for the race itself, Vaccaro reported that the overall winner was Adam Quinn, of Port Jefferson. Dana Mayola, of Medford held the best female time.
