MSG Varsity Names Sachem East Athlete in Top 30 List

Running Back Steven Casali featured among "Players to Watch."

Sachem East Running Back, defensive player and all-around workhorse Steven Casali was recently highlighted on MSG Varsity's "Top 30 LI Players to Watch" tally. The column details Casali's injury that sidelined him during the 2010 campaign, in his sophomore year, but discusses how his play helped bring East Football into the conversation as a playoff team.

With Casali's leadership, East went 6-4 last year and won the school's before it was .

The article puts up impressive stats for Casali's junior year: 1,488 yards, 19 TDs on offense; 80 tackles, three INTs, two forced fumbles, and two touchdowns on defense.

"I felt like I was at home," Casali states in the MSG article about UMass. "I felt comfortable. The stadium is awesome. They were one of the first schools to show interest, and I respect that."
