Monday Morning Quarterback: East Coach's Reaction to Week 2

Sachem East Football Coach Mark Wojciechowski offers his impression of the team's 27-14 loss to Wm. Floyd.

Last Saturday the Sachem East football team went on the road into hostile territory to take on the reigning Long Island Champion Wm. Floyd Colonials in Mastic Beach.

Despite some bright spots, including two interceptions of Floyd's A.J. Otranto, and a 57-yard touchdown run from Steven Casali, the Flaming Arrows couldn't hold off Floyd's offense as the Colonials scored late in the game for a 27-14 win.

Overall impression:

"Very disappointed. Very disappointed. I thought we were ready to take the next step and we weren't. We didn't take advantage of their mistakes. They took advantage of ours. When it came down to it they ran the ball down our throats, so, we didn't step up today like we could have."

On Floyd's broken play at the end of the first half that led to an unlikely touchdown:

"Listen the first touchdown...the guy's downfield, whatever. But after that they ran the ball at us. Very simple; they ran the ball at us. Their guys made plays when he had to, he needed the first down and he got it. I don't think it was a fluke play, I think they ran the ball and we couldn't stop them from running the ball."

Positives or early-season adjustments to make:

"We're not gonna quit; we're gonna work harder. It's only the second game; we're 1-1, so we'll move on from there. It's not over, so we'll be fine."

What to work on this week:

"Not getting driven off the ball 5 yards at a clip; that's what we're gonna work on this week."
