Mark Lesko Speaks at Hiawatha Elementary

Brookhaven Supervisor speaks about recycling in response to school's new program.

Last week, Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko was the guest speaker during an assembly at Hiawatha Elementary School to kick-off of the school’s new go paperless and recycling program.

The school has created a website called “Hiawatha Mail” where families can print out fliers and information that used to be sent home, saving the school district money and helping the environment.
They will also be collecting juice pouches and sending them to a company that turns them into new products such as bags, pencil cases and more.

“Recycling is a great way for kids to chip in and help save money for their school while at the same time protecting the environment,” Lesko said.
