Long Island Duck Pays Visit to Cayuga Elementary
Ray Navarette visits class after fourth grader wins essay contest.
Fourth grader Stephen Florio won the "Take a Duck to Class Essay Contest," sponsored by the Long Island Ducks and TD Bank.
Florio, who wrote an essay titled "Why My Community is Important to Me," was awarded an assembly for all of his fourth-grade classmates featuring Long Island Ducks All-Star infielder Ray Navarrete and mascot QuackerJack.
Kerry Baardson, Manager of the Lake Grove branch of TD Bank, presented Stephen with a $50 Visa gift card during the ceremony.
Navarrete spoke to the students about the importance of giving back to the community, as well as the need for a good education in his career and his life.
