Girls Varsity Track and Field Team Puts Together Solid Outings

Gabby Trejo breaks school record at Millrose trials, others make top placements.

Senior Gabby Trejo, with her mentor- former teammate Brittany Christiansen- in attendance, placed 6th in the Millrose Games Trials at the Armory on Wednesday evening with a School Record heave of 45'1" in the 20 lb Weight Throw.

Christiansen, a sophomore All-Region performer at Slippery Rock University has been giving pointers to the Sachem Throwers while on Winter recess, and Trejo and Brittany Sepe, whose throw of 37'9" placed her 8th, have both reaped the benefits of the former record holder's assistance.

Trejo's mark becomes the second School Record of the season and she will now join Essence Sterling, who set a new record with a 34'4.5" leap in the Triple Jump 2 weeks ago, with a spot on the School Record board.

Trejo and Sepe are currently ranked 5th and 8th in New York State in the Weight Throw. The Millrose Trials also brought out the best in the 4 by 400 quartet of Jayda Allen, Laurie Semetsis, Shannon O'Hehir, and Ally Figalora as they were the 10th fastest team from Long Island with a time of 4:12.33.
