Gallery: 'Dirty Dozen' Recognized at Sachem BOE Meeting

Students who volunteered to help Hurricane Sandy victims, honored Sandy Hook Elementary victims recognized.

At last week's Sachem Board of Education meeting, school officials recognized a large group of Sachem children of all ages who contributed to the recovery efforts after Hurricane Sandy, and who sent cards and condolences to the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Conn.

Dubbed "The Dirty Dozen," by the group's advisor, the students actually numbered more than a dozen. At the meeting, some of the students recognized five faculty members at Sachem, dedicating their service on behalf of one of the victims at Sandy Hook. All told they will highlight the work of 26 Sachem faculty members who made an impact. Browse the gallery for some photos of the proceedings.
