Former East Goalie Commits to Reinhardt University

Cakouros will attend Waleska, GA-based college this fall.

Former Sachem East goaltender and 2011 graduate Daniel Cakouros has commited to Reinhardt University in Georgia, after taking a year off between high school and college.

Cakouros was accepted to Reinhardt after working out during his educational hiatus with a goalie trainer, and sending game film to the university.

"I chose Reinhardt University because I always wanted to play in the South in college for lacrosse," Cakouros stated in an email. "Reinhardt is an up and coming program, which is exciting for me, and the head Coach John Snow was an All-American at Cornell University and played on team USA."

Reinhardt is coming off a disappointing 2012 season, concluding with a loss to No. 18 ranked Coastal Carolina University. The school is part of the Appalachian Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Cakouros posted a 53 percent save rate in his senior year at Sachem East, but did not play every game in that 2011 season. According to Cakouros, his best game came against Ward Melville when he blocked 14 shots in an 11-4 loss.
