Five Sachem Football Players Picked For Boomer Esiason Game

Players from East and North selected to play in Long Island vs. New York City all-star challenge.

Five Sachem football players, two from North and three from East, have been hand-picked to play in the United Healthcare Empire Challenge football all-star game at Hofstra University.

Sachem North's Tyler Andreassi and Steve Mills, and Sachem East's Steve Casali, Ryan Dippel and Brian Balsamo represent the most amount of Sachem players ever to be picked to dress for the exclusive annual fundraising game. The game features Long Island's best players in a friendly matchup against New York City's best.

In addition, North coach Dave Falco will be serving as an assistant coach for the Long Island team when they play the game in June.

Most often referred to as the "Boomer Game," the Empire Challenge exhibition helps raise funds for the Boomer Esiason Foundation, named after the famous NFL quarterback and now top-rated morning radio show host from East Islip High School.

According to The Sachem Report, Athletic Director Pete Blieberg, will continue his role as the Game Coordinator for the event, a title he's held since the game's founding.
