Clothing Drive for Nicholas Franzi Saturday

The Sachem community is hosting a clothing drive and fundraiser to help raise funds for Nicholas Franzi, who is suffering from leukemia.

Franzi, a student at Sachem High School North, suffers from chronic mylogenous leukemia (CML). On October 20, the community will host a clothing drive at the high school. Every pound will help raise funds for a great cause.

According to BeTheMatchFoundation.org, his life changed when he was diagnosed with CML in January of 2010. CML is a relatively uncommon type of cancer.  Mostly found in adults, it is rarely seen in children with only about 50 children in the US diagnosed per year, according to the organization.

The event will be held at Sachem North from 8am-4pm. Sachem Cares will hold a bake sale at the clothing drive. All items are $1 with all proceeds going to the Nicholas Franzi Foundation.
