East Hoops Player Commits To SUNY New Paltz

Class of 2013 small forward will major in art at the upstate school.

Sachem East senior basketball player Joe Santarpia has verbally committed to playing hoops at SUNY New Paltz when he graduates from Sachem this year.

The small forward will be playing in Division III play for Head Coach Mike Rejniak in his third year at the program. This year the Hawks made it to the quarterfinals of the SUNY Athletic Conference tournament for the third consecutive year, after posting a 9-9 conference record, the best record at New Paltz since the team's 1998-99 campaign.

The 6'4" Santarpia will not only be shooting from the paint at New Paltz, he'll be painting in the studio as well. The senior plans to major in art when he starts the Fall 2013 semester.
