VIDEO: Lampitelli Running for Re-election on Sachem Board of Education

Looks to 'hold the line' and keep the positive juices flowing in district.

Sachem school board incumbent Christine Lampitelli is seeking reelection for a second term on the board of education. She is running against in the election that will take place May 17.

Lampitelli, a 23-year resident of the Sachem community, has three children and is a retired New York City Police Sergeant.

“I think we’ve done some amazing and very exciting things over the last three years and I want to continue to keep those things going,” said Lampitelli, who pointed out test scores, drug awareness and energy efficiency as key areas that have improved during her three-year term. “I’m going to continue to hold the line and fight for what I believe in.”

“People forget during the tough times everything you’ve accomplished up until now,” she said.

Lampitelli is also proud of stimulating the Aware Committee and pushing for the use of drug-sniffing dogs as a measure of drug prevention in the secondary school buildings.

Among the positive academic achievements Lampitelli is most thrilled with in Sachem is the high graduation rates (90 percent), high rate of students moving into college careers (over 90 percent), high regents scores in core areas (over 88 percent) and high state assessment results for grades 3-8 in core subjects (over 90 percent).

That, plus the leadership initiatives Sachem has taken with the Covey program, had her smiling at this week's Sachem board of education meeting as she told a story of her own children speaking of Covey at home.
