Hansen Award-winning Sachem East running back Steven Casali can add one more honor to the list of accolades he's received this year: selection to MSG Varsity's All Metro list.
The selection was made last night on a television special aired on MSG Varsity. Every season the network chooses 26 players on its first team All Metro list. Casali made first team at the linebacker position. He was just one of four Long Island players to make the team.
“The football players who make up the MSG Varsity All Metro Team are among the best in the tri-state area,” Michael Lardner, SVP and Executive Producer at MSG Varsity stated. “We are thrilled to partner with The National Football Foundation to honor these student athletes and their coaches who demonstrate on a regular basis the passion, athleticism and sportsmanship it takes to succeed both on and off the field.”
The honor now makes Casali All-Division, All-County, All-Long Island and All Metro.
Earlier this month Casali won the Hansen Award, as well as the Collatta Award, Cipp Award and the Burnett Award. His next appearance on a football field will be off Sachem grounds, however. The senior is headed to UMass when he graduates this year.
