Holbrook Real Estate Firm Lands Big-Name Partner

John P. O'Hara left Corporate Realty Services to take managing partner position with Sperry Van Ness.

Holbrook-based commercial real estate advisory firm Sperry Van Ness annouced it has added John P. O’Hara to its team as managing partner.

O'Hara is a long-time real estate broker for large properties in Suffolk County and comes over from Corporate Realty Services LLC in Hauppauge, a firm he co-founded in 2003 according to a release.

“This is a good  time to build up the company," David Madigan, president of Sperry Van Ness, stated. "We’re coming off the market bottom and  there is rising demand for industrial space.” Madigan said bringing in O'Hara will help the firm tap into the rising marketplace and assist Sperry Van Ness in planned expansion to other locations.

O'Hara is a specialist in land sales and has assisted in development of major industrial parks in Suffolk County. He most recently assisted with the sale of 25 acres of property in Holtsville owned by Motorola, according to the release. Other big land transactions include a 37-acre land deal that  enabled Ronkonkoma-based Quality King Distributors to build 560,000 square feet of offices and  warehouse in Yaphank.

Before his co-founding Corporate Realty Services, O'Hara worked for Brown Harris Stevens Real Estate Services. Prior to that he was VP of a regional petroleum marketing firm.

“I want to help take Sperry Van Ness to the next level on Long Island,” O'Hara stated. “It’s a good move at my age. I don’t have to worry about the day-to-day running of the office. Sperry Van Ness has the administrative support mechanism.” O'Hara is 53. He lives in Bayport with his wife, Lorraine.
