Town of Islip Tabs New Deputy Supervisor

Jeanine Dillon takes post as youngest female for position.

Jeanine Dillon has been appointed Deputy Supervisor of the Town of Islip.

Dillon has served as Chief of Staff for Supervisor Phil Nolan's administration since he took office in November 2006.  A brief swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Islip Town Clerk Regina Duffy, with Town employees and managers in attendance.

"Jeanine Dillon has been the driving force behind the government reforms and service improvements we have implemented thus far," said Nolan in a statement. "She is what makes the wheels turn in this government and I congratulate her on this new position."

Dillon previously served as Assistant Deputy County Executive to Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy and has an extensive background in government management, the town said.

"It is honor to serve the Town of Islip in this exciting and challenging position," Dillon said in a statement.  "I look forward to continuing our work to streamline government and give taxpayers the services they deserve."

Former Deputy Supervisor Joseph DeVincent completed over three years of service and will continue to lend his expertise to the Town as Vice Chairman of the Planning Board. 

The new Chief of Staff will be George Hoffman, former Chief of Staff in Huntington and Brookhaven townships. Hoffman has worked in local government on Long Island for 31 years, including for the Suffolk Legislature and as a district director for U.S. Rep. Steve Israel.  For the last three years he has worked as a private government relations consultant for environmental firms, the town said.
