Interactive parenting workshops: Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan is proud to announce that the Youth & Family Counseling Program, along with Brentwood Y.D.C., will begin offering an interactive workshop series for parents to explore the various challenges of adolescent parenting. The first series, beginning October 1, 2010, will continue for five consecutive Fridays (Oct. 1, Oct. 8, Oct. 15,  Oct. 22 and Oct. 29).  The workshop will be held at the Caesar Trunzo Senior Center, 16 Second Avenue in Brentwood.

Fun teen drop-in night: Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan is pleased to announce that the South Shore Community Organization, one of the Town of Islip Youth Bureau's contract agencies, will be providing fun, safe, supervised programming for teens every Friday night, 7-9 p.m., at the Joyce Fitzpatrick Center on Irish Lane in East Islip. TOI presents checks to foundations: Nolan and Councilman John Edwards recently presented checks in the amount of $4,388.54 to both the EJ Autism Foundation and the Boomer Esiason Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis. The checks to each charity represent proceeds raised from the Second Annual Great South Bay Youth and Adult Triathlons held on June 5th and 6th, 2010, respectively.

Edwards announces new bike adoption program: He is pleased to announce that the Town of Islip Recycling Program will now offer an opportunity for Islip Town residents to participate in a bike "adoption" program.  Residents will be able to bring their unwanted bicycles to the Town's Recycling Center, located on Lincoln Avenue in Holbrook, where the bikes will then be made available for adoption by Town residents.
