The Brookhaven Town Board meetings cover news for all the towns in its district. Here is a condensed versions of the meetings from December featuring general Town news as it pertains to all of Sachem along with the news relating strictly to the Sachem area.

General Town Meeting Notes

  • Report of Revenue for the Office of the Town Clerk for the month of November 2010 in the amount of $35,060.28.

Farmingville

Town Notes

  • An Assessment Lien for costs associated with administering proceedings was approved for 691 Horseblock Road.
  • An Assessment Lien for clean up costs was approved for work done at 53 Midvale Avenue.

Zoning Decisions

Granted

  • To Anthony Odierna of Walnut Avenue. Permission to retain an existing finished basement with an outside basement entrance on a 47 foot lot and a side yard variance for existing deck.

Granted for 5 years

  • To AMFM Holdings Inc. Renewal of a special permit to keep a communication tower located on the west side of Tower Hill Avenue, west of Berkshire Drive and north of Foxboro Avenue.

Holtsville

Town Notes

  • Two Highway Work Permits were released. One was issued to Lifestar Response Corporation for Blue Point Road; the other was issued to Ronald Smales for Jamaica Avenue.
  • The Town also voted for the abandonment of a portion of Thirteenth Street.

Zoning Decisions

Pending

  • For the R.C. Diocese of Rockville Centre for property located on the east side Frances Boulevard, north of Division Street. A request to retain an existing accessory apartment of 1000 square feet which exceeds the amount permitted under the code, which is 650 square feet.

Ronkonkoma

Planning Notes

Pending

  • Approval for a three lot land division with lot area variances for the area located at the northwest corner of Portion Road and Holbrook Road. The land is currently zoned as A Residential and J-2 Business.

Town Notes

  • Two Assessment Liens for clean up costs was approved for 325 Ronkonkoma Avenue and 112 Warren Avenue.

Zoning Decisions

Granted

  • To Joseph Jackson of Topaz Drive. Permission for a minimum and total side yard variances for an existing roof over the basement entrance.

Granted

  • To Richard Boyd of Essex Drive. Permission for a side yard variance for an existing in-ground swimming pool not built in conformance with a previously issued permit.

Granted, one request only and two others denied

  • To Century 21 Castle of Portion Road. Permission granted for a lot area variance but applicant was denied a front yard setback variance from Laurel Road and a front yard transition (between districts) for a proposed two and a half office building.
