But the numbers get a little tighter for the governor when voters were asked if they were prepared to support him in the next election. About 52 percent of respondents said Cuomo would earn their vote again, while 39 percent said they would prefer someone else.
Cuomo is viewed favorably by three-quarters of New York City voters, and by two-thirds of downstate suburban voters.
One bit of trouble for the governor: By a 46 percent to 43 percent margin, voters said New York is headed in the wrong direction.
Last month, by a 47 percent to 40 percent margin, voters said the Empire State was moving in the right direction.
The Siena College Poll had 807 respondents. It was conducted between Sept. 22-26.
