Reminder: Polls Open For Library Budget Vote

The Sachem Public Library has put its 2013-14 spending plan up for public vote today.

Polls to vote yes or no on the Sachem Public Library's $10 million budget plan and to re-elect Marguerite Barone to its board of trustees opened at 9:30 a.m. today.

The booths will remain open until 9 p.m. tonight for those interested and eligible to vote. As a reminder before heading to the polls, you may participate in the budget vote if you are

  • At least 18 years of age
  • A citizen of the U.S.
  • A resident of Sachem School District for at least 30 days
  • And are registered to vote

As reported earlier in Sachem Patch, the spending plan for 2013-14 is $10,152,252 and voters will decide on a 1.95% tax levy increase to subsidize the 3.8% overall increase in spending. The library plans to beef up its digital reference section in the coming fiscal year if the budget passes.
