Muratore Wins Reelection in County Legislature

Beat Turdik by more than 3,000 votes.

Suffolk County Legis. Tom Muratore won reelection to his position in the fourth legislative district Tuesday night.

He defeated Joseph Turdik, 6,248-2,913, or 68.17 percent to 31.78 percent.

At the Suffolk County Republican Committee set up at the Sheraton Hotel in Hauppauge, Muratore spoke about high taxes and the inability of younger folks to remain on Long Island.

“That’s not going to happen if things keep going the way they’re going,” he said. “We really need to look at government, downsize spending and not raise taxes.”

Muratore said there have been grumblings that the legislature may propose a tax increase once the election process settles.

“I’m not voting for that,” he said. “I’m going to stand by my principles. I know there’s a way to do this. Like parents do, they find a way to pay the bills. You do it by cutting corners, cutting costs.”
