Lights Go Up at Veterans Park

Will illuminate area during evening hours.

Lights have been placed at the Farmingville-Holtsville Veterans Memorial Park on Horseblock Road.

Robert Lindsay and George Donaldson were from the original group of veterans who helped establish the Farmingville-Holtsville Veterans Memorial Park on Horseblock Place and Nicolls Road, established Nov. 11, 1976.

For years, Lindsay would come to the park before sundown to lower the flags out of respect. By keeping lights perpetually placed over the flags, they can remain in place.

"It was my pleasure to work in conjunction with Councilwoman Kepert and the Town of Brookhaven to get these lights placed at the memorial," said Suffolk County Leg. Tom Muratore. "I have the utmost respect for our veterans and thank them for their service to our country."
