Letter to the Editor: Hearts for Hunger

I am writing to you today to ask that you join with me for the first annual “Join Hearts for Hunger” February Food Drive through Long Island Cares. 

As you know in these tough economic times, our families and senior citizens are facing some of the most difficult choices in their daily lives. This is a slow time for our local food banks, so I am joining with Long Island Cares to help them in their mission to feed over 300,000 residents across the  Island who are less fortunate than we are.

I am asking for your help. To meet the needs of our community requires that we work together and take this challenge head-on. You can help us by placing a box for collections and donations in your library, school, fire department, or place of business during the month of February.

Please call my office (631-589-8685) and let me know if you can help – we will get you a box for collections. Otherwise any donations can be dropped off at my office at 859 Montauk Highway, Suite 1 in Bayport, N.Y.
