Letter to the Editor: Get Involved with Government

Have something to say? Email your letters to Chris@Patch.com.

Dear Editor:

In an effort to provide your readers with a greater opportunity to voice their thoughts on state government, I would like to invite them to participate in two important activities that are currently available on my website at flanagan.nysenate.gov.

First, I will be hosting a half-hour Virtual Town Hall meeting starting at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 16.  This open dialogue Internet meeting will give your readers an opportunity to discuss the subjects that are important to them and their family.  Any resident who would like to participate can submit questions or opinions at any time prior to or during this Internet event by visiting my web site at flanagan.nysenate.gov and clicking on the “Virtual Q & A” link on the home page.

Due to time constraints, I may be unable to respond to every question submitted during the event but every question submitted will be read and may be used during the session regardless of whether the resident joins the live chat.  Anyone unable to join the live chat will be able to read the entire transcript which will be available on my web site after the meeting is concluded.

Second, the legislative survey on my web site has been updated and I hope your readers will participate so that I can get their input on a number of key issues. This survey, which is available by visiting the homepage of flanagan.nysenate.gov, is comprised of questions about issues that are of important throughout our state and some that are specific to issues that were raised during the Town Hall series I hosted throughout our area.

I hope your readers will be able to participate in one or both of these and invite everyone to feel free to contact my office by phone at 631-361-2154 or by e-mail at flanagan@nysenate.gov.

Sincerely yours,

Sen. John Flanagan
