Kepert's Farmingville Redevelopment Plan Final Visioning Report Accepted by Town Board

Serves as advisory document for all future Farmingville development and redevelopment

After months of community discussion and collaboration, Town of Brookhaven Councilwoman Connie Kepert's final visioning report for Farmingville was accepted.

"Farmingville: Our Vision for Tomorrow" Community Redevelopment Plan  serves as an advisory document for all future Farmingville development and redevelopment. It also serves as a first step in the future development of a walkable downtown community, which will ignite both community and business development for Farmingville, the Town said. The Visioning Plan contains exciting recommendations for enhancing community and commerce in Farmingville.

Kepert initiated a visioning process for Farmingville in May of 2009, and brought in nationally recognized planner Dan Burton to conduct the Charrette weekend.

"Farmingville is a great community with a diverse population. It has enormous potential for the development of pedestrian centers, traffic calming, and business development. Dan Burton, one of the very best planners in the country, was key to unleashing that great potential," she said.

"The Farmingville community has been working very hard to create opportunities for business to grow and this plan will certainly help to guide future development in the area," said Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko, who supported the Visioning Plan. "I will work with Councilwoman Kepert and do whatever I can to move this plan forward."
