Islip: Pothole Situation Better Than Last Year at This Point

Residents can call 631-224-5610 to report a pothole needing a fix.

Despite the first winter storm of 2014, Islip Town roadways aren’t sporting an increased number of potholes, as compared to last year this time, according to the town.

“So far there is less than last year and there is not an abundance of pot holes,” Thomas Owens, commissioner of the town’s Department of Public Works, told Patch in an email Monday afternoon.

And no one specific area in Islip Town is boasting more potholes than another when it comes to the roadway annoyance, he added.

Despite the super chill weather town employees are out daily and making fixes, said Owens, as the asphalt plants are still open.

“Residents should call 224-5610 and we will address the issue promptly,” he stated.
