Islip Town Board Meeting Tuesday

Public hearings on the agenda include flood zoning, stiffer penalties for boat ramp violations.

Public hearings on changing the building height for homes located in flood zones and raising the fines for violating several town codes are on the agenda for Tuesday’s Islip Town Board meeting, which starts at 2 p.m. at Town Hall.

According to the meeting’s agenda, the town is looking to change how the height of a home located within an Area of Special Flood Hazard is measured.

The resolution would allow the height to be measured from the average grade of the ground at the base of the structure or the minimum elevation necessary to meet requirements for federal flood insurance as determined by the National Flood Insurance Program.
