CVS Application Hearing Set for Wednesday

Planning Board hearing for proposal regarding La Grange site scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

The Town of Islip Planning Board will hold a hearing for the zoning change and special permit application regarding a proposed CVS to replace the La Grange Inn on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

The Town Hall hearing was initally scheduled for October, however the applicant requested an adjournment.

The applicant, First Hartford Realty Corp., is seeking a special permit from the Planning Board for a retail space "in excess of 10,000 square feet of gross floor area" as well as a drive-through window for the pharmacy.

First Hartford Realty is also requesting a zoning change for the property. Site plan modifications are also required as part of the application. (Full details are contained in the attached PDF.)

It is not clear if the application includes plans for a 24-hour store.

That's a shame. Can't imagine the Lagrange not being there.

I despise CVS. They took over our Long's Drugs here in Northern California and have proven to be the worst pharmacy ever. Their stores are dirty, dark and bleak. The LaGrange building is beautiful and adds to the charm of West Islip. It was one of my favorite places when I was growing up in West Islip. CVS would be an ugly blight where beauty once stood.

I didn't realize the LaGrange Inn was closed down? When did that happen? I can't imagine a CVS taking its place :-(

Obviously you havent been to west islip in a while. It is a total eye sore, boarded up, falling apart, and fenced in with over growth, While i would like to see something else go there, anything is better then seeing this sad site
