Brookhaven Town Extending Hours for Hurricane Cleanup

Landfill will also take tree and shrub debris free of charge from residential vehicles.

The Town of Brookhaven has announced it is extending its hours this weekend to help residents still cleaning up their property in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

On Saturday and Sunday, November 3-4, both the Brookhaven Landfill in Yaphank and the Manorville Composting Site will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will take all storm-related brush and tree debris free of charge.

The town is not waiving the fee for any debris brought in by commercial vehicles. The Brookhaven Landfill is located on Horseblock Road in Yaphank; the Manorville Composting Site is located on Papermill Drive. Normal operating hours for the composting site is Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
