Brookhaven to Host Event on Substance Abuse

Event will take place February 16 at Town Hall.

The Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau will host a free presentation on substance abuse on Thursday, February 16 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Brookhaven Town Hall.

The presentation, “The Dangers in Your Medicine Cabinet and Beyond,” will provide important information on how to protect children and prevent substance abuse. The event will feature guest speaker Steve Chassman, LCSW, from the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence.

“In so many cases, substance abuse starts right in the home with prescription drugs that are easily accessible to children,” said Supervisor Mark Lesko, in a statement. “It’s important that we educate adults on what they can do to prevent abuse and I commend our Youth Bureau for being proactive in this effort.”
