Brookhaven Council Members Slated to Propose Amended Budget Tonight

New budget proposal would reportedly put money back to keep Holtsville Ecology Center open.

The Brookhaven Wildlife Center is calling upon Sachem residents to voice their support for a budget amendment that may save the Holtsville Ecology Center from getting the axe.

On the organization's Facebook page, the group sent out a message: "You can help save the Holtsville Ecology Center by attending the Brookhaven Town Board Meeting on Tuesday, October 23rd @ 5pm. Councilman Mazzei is expected to present a budget amendment to save the facility. Your attendence tells the board that they need to keep the Ecology Center open! Wear blue.

According to News12, both Councilman Tim Mazzei and Councilwoman Connie Kepert have put forth a revised budget that would move money around in the Traffic Safety and Highway Departments in a way that would allow the Ecology Center to stay put.
