Kristen Iacono, of East Setauket, succumbs to her injuries a day after crash; Centereach man is charged with driving while intoxicated.

A 26-year-old woman died of her injuries following an alleged DWI in Holbrook last week.

Kristen Iacono, of East Setauket, was driving west on the north service road of the Long Island Expressway early on the morning of May 23 when a vehicle driven by James O'Donnell, of Centereach, slammed into Iacono's 2005 Lincoln, according to police.

O'Donnell, 47, was not injured in the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Holbrook Road and the service road. O'Donnell, who had been travelling north on Holbrook Road, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. There's been no word from the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office as to whether charges will be upgraded against O'Donnell in light of Iacono's death.

A passenger in Iacono's car, Joseph Kemp, 30, of Holbrook, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital.
