Holbrook man shot in front of home: John Williams, 39, of Geery Avenue was shot while sitting in his black Nissan Sentra in front of his home. His mother Pat found his body, which was hanging out of the passenger side of the car in the middle of the residential block situated between Portion Road and the Long Island Expressway North Service Road. .

Man drives into Farmingville building, shoots himself: A Central Islip man killed himself in Farmingville after he killed two others earlier in the day. Genis Walker, 26, took his own life after fittingly crashing into the side of Brothers Police store on Horseblock Road. .

Man killed on Beech Street in Lake Ronkonkoma: A man was shot and killed while sitting his car in Lake Ronkonkoma. Raymond Hirt, 51, of 100 Washington Ave., Mastic Beach, was parked on Beech Street, just south of Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma, when a dark-colored SUV pulled up beside the vehicle and an occupant fired at least one shot him. .

Holbrook resident arrested for rape, burglary: A Holbrook man was arrested for an October 2009 sexual assault and burglary that occurred in Holtsville. John Kluge, 23, of Rachels Way, was charged with first degree rape and first degree burglary. He pleased not guilty and was ordered held on $1 million cash bail by a judge at district court in Central Islip. .

Woman brings kids to drug sale in Farmingville:  A Ronkonkoma woman was arrested in Farmingville for purchasing drugs while she was with her two children. Ellen Fredericks, 42, of 275 Ave. B, Ronkonkoma, had her children, both boys under the age of 12, and her 19-year-old niece, present in her car when she engaged in a drug sale inside one of two vehicles that were outside the hotel. .

Man wanted for stealing tractor in Holbrook: This one is the most recent of the bunch. The man is still wanted after he jacked a tractor and is suspected for taking another earlier in the day. This one made the list because of the shear strange factor of stealing a tractor in this day and age. .

Selden woman arrested for driving drunk in Holtsville with children: Jennifer Mintz, 38, was pulled over on Nicolls Road in Holtsville. After stopping the vehicle on Expressway Drive South, the arresting officer confirmed she was operating her motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition. Also in the vehicle with Mintz were her son and daughter, ages six and four. .

Mailbox vandals caught on camera: Marc Langone, who lives in Lake Ronkonkoma, had enough and purchased a night-vision camera that shoots decent quality video (see video on the right) to catch the vandals in the act. "It was happening like clockwork," he said. "It got completely out of hand." The vandals were never caught. .

Lake Ronkonkoma man flees U.S. Marshals: A Lake Ronkonkoma man attempted to flee authorities by ramming into a US Marshal's vehicle. Thomas Hluboky, 32, who last lived at 25 Uhl Drive, was located by the New York District of the US Marshal's Fugitive Task Force. They attempted to arrest him on Pine Aire Drive in Bay Shore at approximately 5 p.m., Suffolk County Police said.  Hluboky, who was wanted on a parole warrant, unsuccessfully tried to flee authorities by ramming his 2002 Mercedes sedan into a vehicle driven by a US Marshal. Hluboky resisted arrest and a taser had to be deployed to subdue him. .

Hacker posts cartoon on library website: Web hackers posted an anti-Israel cartoon on the Sachem Public Library website. The cartoon portrays an Israeli boy with a gun in his pocket and an Arab boy with a slingshot. .
