Suspect Still at Large in Downed Pole Incident

Despite K-9 units and helicopter, Suffolk Police come up empty.

Police are still looking for the man who slammed into a utility pole at Hawkins Avenue and Division Road in Lake Ronkonkoma last Friday, knocking the pole down and causing power outages.

According to police the man took off on foot after the crash, which sent wires down at the intersection. The canine unit was called to search for the man, as well as a police helicopter. Area residents called police to say they spotted the man running through backyards.

Some residents, unaware of the crash, said they watched the helicopter nervously and guarded their doors.
