Suffolk's First Ever BWI Checkpoint Nabs Holbrook Woman

Marine Bureau sets up sting in waters off Patchogue, leads to two arrests.

Suffolk County Police's Marine Bureau conducted its maiden sobriety checkpoint off the waters of Patchogue, a sting that led to the arrest of a Holbrook woman for BWI.

Ann Marie O'Toole, 55, was arrested after passing through the checkpoint, set up just off the Sandspit Marina as part of a larger effort to promote and enforce boating safety. O'Toole was one of 23 boats that passed through the first-ever checkpoint. She was charged with operating a vessel while in an intoxicated condition and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.

Michael Bacher, of Patchogue, was also arrested for BWI in the operation.
