Suffolk County Police Academy Graduates 4 Locals

County swears in 57 new officers at yesterday's graduation ceremony

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Acting Police Commissioner Edward Webber swore in 57 new police officers yesterday at the police academy in Brentwood. Four of the new officers hail from the Sachem area: two from Ronkonkoma, one from Lake Ronkonkoma, and one from Holtsville.

The new recruits completed more than six months of training and more than 1,100 hours of instruction, preparing them for situations such as emergency medical training, defensive tactics, domestic violence, mental illness, and firearms use.
