A Smithtown man was struck and killed by a car in Selden Sunday morning, police said.

Sean Slatterly, 56, was hit by a 2006 Ford van that was heading east on Route 25 about 75 feet west of Bicycle Path at 11:05 a.m., police said.

Slatterly was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

Slatterly had been reported missing by his family after he was last seen late Friday night on Main Street in Smithtown. He suffered from mental heath issues and diabetes and was in need of medication, his family said.

The driver of the van that hit Slatterly, Shuming Fan, 46, of Flushing, was not injured in the crash. No criminal charges have been filed.

Police are continuing to investigate and ask anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

(Editor's note: Another Smithtown man who had been reported missing this weekend, Dennis Carroll, was found unharmed.)
