Sister: Missing Man May Be in Lake Ronkonkoma

Police say Dennis Shepherd jumped out of a vehicle last Friday and ran into the woods.

The sister of a man police say jumped out of a vehicle after being transported to Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Brentwood last week says Dennis Shepherd may have headed for Lake Ronkonkoma. 

Shepherd, 46, has an apartment in Manorville and used to live in Lake Ronkonkoma, Vicky Shepherd told Patch. 

Police say Dennis Shepherd was being transported from Stony Brook University Medical Center to Pilgrim Psychiatric Center last Friday morning. Upon arriving at Pilgrim, police say Shepherd "subsequently jumped out of the vehicle he was a passenger in and ran into the woods of the Brentwood property. Shepard could be a danger to himself."

Shepherd is described as white, with blue eyes and blonde hair that is short and spiked. He is 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, light grey pants and tan sneakers.

Anyone with information on Shepherd is asked to call the Fugitive/Missing Persons Section at 631-852-6044.
