Sheriff Nabs Farmingville Man for DWI Over Labor Day Weekend

Suspect was driving erratically while heading eastbound on the LIE near exit 62.

A Farmingville man was arrested for DWI on Sunday after a Suffolk County Sheriff was alerted to his driving by a call from dispatch and pulled him over.

Police say Ramgopaul Goorbaran, 46, was heading eastbound on the Long Island Expressway near the Nichols Road exit at around 3 a.m. on Sunday when Deputy Sheriff Thomas Bivona caught up to him after being dispatched to the area by a citizen's complaint. Bivona observed Goorbaran driving his 2011 Dodge Caravan in a reckless fashion, failing to maintain his driving lane.

When Bivona stopped him, he observed that Goorbaran's speech was slurred and his eyes were glassy. Goorbaran eventually submitted to a breath test, which resulted in a .12% BAC, and he was taken into custody by Bivona.
