SCPD to Crackdown on BWI, DWI During Holiday Weekend

Increased patrols to combat drinking while operating motor vehicles and vessels.

Suffolk County Police Thursday announced a comprehensive boating and driving while intoxicated crackdown plan to help keep residents safe during the upcoming Labor Day weekend.

“If you are going to drink and operate a car or boat, you will be arrested,” said Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer in a statement. “Officers will be extra vigilant in their efforts to arrest those who choose to put others in danger by violating these laws.”

Suffolk County Police said they it be patrolling for DWI and BWI offenders on Suffolk roads and waterways.

“The Suffolk County Police Department will be aggressively targeting those who drink and drive or operate a boat during Labor Day weekend,” said Suffolk County Exec. Steve Levy in a statement. “The safety of our residents is a top priority for the county.”
