Ronkonkoma Woman Brings Children to Drug Sale Outside Farmingville Hampton Inn

Three arrested, police find packages of pills and cocaine.

A Ronkonkoma woman was arrested in Farmingville Thursday night for purchasing drugs while she was with her two children.

Ellen Fredericks, 42, of 275 Ave. B, Ronkonkoma, had her children, both boys under the age of 12, and her 19-year-old niece, present in her car when she engaged in a drug sale inside one of two vehicles that were outside the hotel.

Officers from the Sixth Precinct observed Fredericks and two others, Deon Reed,  40, of 2F Ethan Allan Ct., Ridge and Christopher J. Smith, 30, of 23 Ashton Road, Medford, involved with the deal gone bad.

Officers found packages containing pills and cocaine at the scene, according to Suffolk County Police.

Fredericks was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree for possessing suboxone pills, Loitering in the First Degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The children were released into the custody of a family member and a notification was made to Child Protective Services, police said.

Smith was charged with four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. Reed was charged with five counts of the same. Both were in possession of quantities of cocaine, heroin, hydrocodone pills and percocet pills.

Fredericks was released on bail and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a future date. Reed and Smith were held overnight for arraignment April 30.
