Ronkonkoma Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Crash

Police still investigating cause of accident on LIE service road.

Suffolk County detectives are trying to determined what caused a motorcycle accident that seriously injured a Ronkonkoma man on Friday night.

According to authorities, Jared Schraner, 26, was heading westbound on the LIE Service Road in Ronkonkoma when he lost control of his Kawasaki motorcyle that was apparently driving at a high rate of speed. The bike hit a curb and crashed, seriously injuring Schraner.

The crash happed at around 11:30 p.m. on Friday. Schraner was rushed to Stony Brook University Medical Center by the Lakeland Fire Department. He is listed in serious condition.

The 1998 Kawasaki motorcycle has been impounded by police for a safety check as part of the investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the accident to call (631) 854-8452.
