Ronkonkoma Man Arrested for Stealing Manhole Covers and Sewer Caps

Charged with various counts and arraigned in court Friday.

A Ronkonkoma man was arrested Thursday for stealing manhole covers and sewer caps from locations in Suffolk County this month, according to Suffolk Police.

Ronald Dimarzo, 45, was targeting business locations during the early morning hours and removing iron covers with the intent of later scrapping the material for money, police said.

The removal of the manholes created a dangerous situation to anyone walking in the vicinity of the open manholes due to deep, liquid filled underground openings that were exposed.
