Road Closures in Ronkonkoma Monday for Cop's Funeral
Between 8,000 and 10,000 expected in town for funeral of Joseph Olivieri.
There will be several road closures in Ronkonkoma Monday as thousands pour into town for the funeral of Nassau cop Joseph Olivieri, Suffolk Police said.
The funeral for Olivieri, a Ronkonkoma native killed in a crash on the LIE on Thursday, is set for 1 p.m. at St. Joseph R.C. Church on Church Street.
Suffolk Police said there will be "periodic closures" along Ronkonkoma Avenue, Hawkins Avenue and Pond Road between County Road 16 and Express Drive North between 9 a.m. and approximately 2 p.m.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area and find alternate routes during that timeframe.
A Nassau County Police spokesman told Patch that between 8,000 and 10,000 people, including officers from Suffolk, Nassau and New York City, will flood into town for the funeral.

The wake for Olivieri, 43, continues Sunday at the Ronkonkoma Fire Department from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
An Oakdale man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection with the crash that killed Olivieri.
