Report: Ronkonkoma Man Ran Onto Field After Mets No-Hitter

John Ries, 25, is charged with two misdemeanors following incident Friday night.

A Ronkonkoma man who rushed onto Citi Field after Johan Santana threw the first no-hitter in Mets history Friday night is now facing two misdemeanor charges, according to a New York Post report

John Ries, 25, was arrested along with Rafael Diaz, 32, of Massapequa, after the two men darted onto the field as Mets players mobbed each other on the diamond.

Diaz, wearing a Gary Carter jersey, made it all the way to the pitcher's mound before being hauled away, the Post reported. Ries was caught near the foul line.

Ries and Diaz each face up to a year in prison if convicted on charges of trespassing and entering the field of a sports event, but the Post reported that a fine and probation is more likely since both men have clean records.

Ries and Diaz were released from jail on Sunday on their own recognizance.

In similar cases, the Mets have banned people who've run onto the field from the ballpark for life.
