Man Gets Stuck Down Medford Drain While Getting Keys

Rope was used to climb down 18-foot-drain before getting stuck, report says.

How far will you go to reach your keys when they have fallen down a drain?

According to Newsday, an employee at the Medford location of Sam's Club on Horseblock Road used a rope early Thursday morning to climb down an 18-foot deep storm drain in the shopping center's parking lot to retrieve his.

Police rescued the man when he called 911 from his cellphone at 2:15 a.m. to report that he was stuck down the drain, the report says. Volunteers from the Medford Fire Department and a police EMS crew found the man at the bottom of the drain. The man was not injured.

According to the report, the man dropped his keys into the drain as he was leaving work. His attempt to climb down the drain however got him stuck.

The rescue reportedly completed at 2:44 a.m., and police said that the man did reach his keys.
