Police Seeking Tractor Trailer Driver Who Left Scene of Holtsville Crash

A woman involved in crash on the LIE had a finger amputated, police say.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a driver who left the scene of a crash in Holtsville earlier this month.

Police said a woman was driving a Ford Freestyle westbound in the left lane of the Long Island Expressway between exits 63 and 62 on April 2 around 10:10 p.m. when her vehicle was involved in a crash with a tractor trailer. 

The driver of the tractor trailer did not remain at the scene, police said. One of the passengers in the Freestyle had a finger amputated due to the crash, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
