Police Searching For Lake Ronkonkoma Burglar

Video surveillance of the crime captured by homeowner's camera.

Suffolk County detectives are seeking the public's help in identifying and locating two burglars after they broke into a Lake Ronkonkoma home and got into a struggle with a house sitter.

According to police on Sunday, Jan. 12, a burglar kicked down the rear door of the home and began to rummage through it. When the homeowner's relative visited the house to check up on it, he discovered the burglar still inside.

The relative got into a physical altercation with the burglar, who eventually fled on foot. When police watched video surveillance taken inside the home, they discovered a second suspect was with the initial suspect.

One of the suspects is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, with short brown hair. He is approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall, approximately 220 pounds and was wearing a black sweatshirt, a black North Face knit hat and jeans.

Photos of the thief were provided as was the video of the break-in, hosted on the Suffolk County Police Department's YouTube channel.
