Police Say No Serious Injury in Sachem School Bus Accident
Snag on snowbank sends two 11-year-olds to hospital for checkup.
Police say there were no serious injuries involving yesterday's school bus mishap on Empress Pine Drive in Lake Ronkonkoma.
Authorities say the bus, carrying middle school students, was turning the corner at the road at around 3:45 p.m. when its rear wheel got caught in a snowbank. The snag caused the bus to lurch. Two girls bumped heads and one hit a side window.
The girls, 11 years old each, were taken to Stony Brook Hospital for evaluation, but the injuries appeared to be minor. Police are not classifying the incident as a motor vehicle accident.
