Police: Ronkonkoma Woman on Drugs Crashes With Two Kids in Car

Darlene Graham, 29, faces felony charges following accident Monday morning.

A Ronkonkoma woman was arrested Monday morning after crashing her car on Sunrise Highway with her two young children in the vehicle, according to the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office.

Darlene Graham, 29, was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the crash, which occurred on the eastbound side of the highway near Lakeland Avenue in Oakdale, around 8:30 a.m., the Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

Graham's children, ages 3 and 6, suffered minor injuries. Graham is being treated at a local hospital.

Graham, who had two outstanding warrants for criminal mischief and grand larceny at the time of her arrest, is charged with two felony counts of aggravated DWI with a child in violation of Leandra's Law, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended registration, officials said.

Child Protective Services was notified after the crash and the children were released to the care of a family member.

Thank God the children are okay. The mother is unfit to care for these children. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise, the children will not be subdued to this any longer. Oh, and you were late to work?? Gee, now that is something to be upset over. Some people never cease to amaze me.

Who is wrong? The author? Why are you saying that?
Tina Nicoletti October 23, 2012 at 12:57 AM

Yes.. The author is wrong.. She was not drunk.. The warrants are wrong.. But yes.. Thank god that the kids are okay
Need to Know October 23, 2012 at 12:31 PM
The information came from a press release issued by the Suffolk Sheriff's office, after deputies made the arrest. I saw the press release myself. So if the information is incorrect, then it's the deputies who made the mistake, not the author of this article. Looks like the judicial system will decide. By the way- they apparently believe she was high on drugs, not drunk, but aggravated DWI charges are still appropriate in such cases, under Leandra's Law. Also FYI, the Patch article doesn't mention that she already had two outstanding warrants for criminal mischief and grand larceny.

Are you reading the same thing that I am... "Graham, who had two outstanding warrants for criminal mischief and grand larceny at the time of her arrest". Then the deputies made a mistake. There was no alcohol involved. ANONKF who are you???
Friend October 23, 2012 at 04:50 PM
She was "under the influence" because alcohol might not have been involved is there a difference? Warrants are 100% accurate. And to s.s graham was arrested bc she was completely wrong in multiple ways endangering her OWN children and last time I checked no one is arrested for a motor vehicle accident unless they have broken the law or in this case laws.. Be careful who defend. Disregard for the truth is just ignorant
S.S October 24, 2012 at 12:32 AM
Ok first of all "friend".. All I was saying was that the information is not 100% accurate. I didn't defend anyone. I never said that she was right in any way. And that's not why she was originally arrested. Don't try to preach to me about being ignorant, when you have NO clue what the real facts are!

Tina!! How funny that we are responding to the same accident. This woman is a total disgrace to society. She probably put the kids to bed and stayed up partying all night while the kids slept. I couldn't imagine doing something like that.

You guys are disagreeing and agreeing....why the arrogance from both of you? This chat is supposed to voice our opinions, not argue who is right or wrong. The situation is stated, the woman did a horrible thing and those poor kids have to pay for an absolute loser of a mother's bad doing. Having an arrogant attitude when chatting about these situations does not make it desirable to chat at all. It discourages people from saying what they want to say whether it being opinionated or just showing concern. If you can't give your opinion in a decent manner, then show your concern and leave it at that.

I have no problem voicing my opinion. But when ppl are voicing their opinions on facts that aren't true, and don't know the truth, it bothers me. So don't believe everything you read to be 100% true, when it's not.

Just want everyone to be clear this is NOT the same Darlene Graham as the children's entertainer and singer Darlene Graham!!! Please don't confuse the two for each other!
