Police: Ronkonkoma Man Drove Minivan Into House, Fled Scene

Michael Ferruzzo, 49, is arrested Thursday evening, police say.

A Ronkonkoma man was arrested on felony charges Thursday, a day after he drove a minivan into a Central Islip home and then fled the scene, police said. 

According to police, Michael Ferruzzo, 49, drove his 1996 Dodge minivan into a detached garage, and then through the exterior wall of a bedroom at a house located on East Walnut Street around 10 p.m. on Wednesday. 

The crash caused the wall to collapse, but none of the several people inside the home at the time were injured, police said.

Ferruzzo fled the scene in the minivan and he was arrested Thursday evening at his Ronkonkoma home, police said.

Ferruzzo is charged with second degree criminal mischief and first degree reckless endangerment–both felonies. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
